The 2019 mockbuster from The Asylum, Monster Island, was published coincidentally around the same time as Godzilla: King of the Monsters. It is about Monster Island in which a monster may be found.


Because it's a movie about an asylum it has a budget that is roughly equivalent (original blog) to a big kid's dinner. It uses it well. It concentrates on a small number of human characters and keeps its main stars on a single set so that all of their sequences can be shot during lunch. Let's not forget, this is a kaiju film genre.
